Today, April 25th, the closing event for Comana Crafts Village project took place in Comana (Giurgiu county). This project was financed by the Government of Norway, through the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2009-2014, within the financing domain Innovation in Green Industry – Romania, which sustains projects with a positive impact on environment.
Comana Crafts Village project backs opportunities of sustainable business by creating ecological products, recycling wastes and using regenerative energy sources in Comana, all in relation to crafs specific to this region. The project creates a structure of support for local entrepreneurs in the field of traditional crafts, by which seven small craft enterprises were initiated. Comana Crafts Village will propose workshops for woodwork, reed processing, pottery, weaving, traditional milling, blacksmith’s workshop, as well as fruit, vegetables and medical plants processing. The Village will have a component part dedicated to production and selling, as well as an educational side, being a space open for visitors, where there will be craft demonstrations and workshops for children and adults.
Ion Georgescu, Project Manager, stated: „By this project, we create a new landmark on the map of Comana and Bucharest Metropolitan Area, showing at the same time that non-governmental organizations are able to carry on successful projects of sustainable economic development that value, by involving the community, both the beauty of the natural environment and the creativity of traditional crafts”.
Comana Crafts Village and Paper Mill will open to the public starting with the 7th of May 2016.
